Rain or Shine

I'm a toter; especially devoted to my zipless Filson which, for better or worse, is an all-weather companion. And since Northeast storms are fierce, I desperately need a nylon bag. Something ultra-minimal. I had a feeling Muji would suit and sure enough they come through with this guy.

Twin Set

My twin (or long-lost love) sat next to me on the train. He was preppy in an olive herringbone blazer, tortoiseshell frames and navy silk scarf, to my gray tweed, oval frames and pink silk scarf. And right after I slipped a red Moleskine notebook into my bag he pulled out the same one and sketched.

I love a late night croque monsieur and frites at French Roast.

In one sentence, what do you actually do all day in your job?
Make sure Rachael Ray gets that extra "a" and its variants.

Would you still live here on a $35,000 salary?
I've lived on far less, somewhat comfortably, so that feels like a fortune.

Spring Awakening. Has it been that long?

Do you give money to panhandlers?
Only if they play Beatles songs.

What’s your drink?
Pushcart Coffee (one sugar).

How often do you prepare your own meals?
Most every day because I enjoy cooking and stay pretty healthy. Less frequently, lately, because one of my roommates frequently orders delivery. Three of my four major food groups are Chinese, Japanese and Italian.

Which one? There are three. In the center is a wall of windows.

Before midnight, weekdays. When your job requires intense focus, you need sleep.

Which do you prefer, the old Times Square or the new Times Square?
I prefer to avoid Times Square in any era.

What do you think of Donald Trump?
Without The Donald, there would be no Th'Ivanka.

What do you hate most about living in New York?
The competitiveness of it all.

Who is your mortal enemy?
The bank, but the bank has bigger problems than me.

Silver Rocket

Even though I need, like, a new wardrobe, I splurged yesterday on one item I've been craving: a Sigg aluminum water bottle (found at Whole Foods and Crate & Barrel, where I bought it, among other places). Thankfully, mine does not bear a large Swiss cross.

Ian
