My twin (or long-lost love) sat next to me on the train. He was preppy in an olive herringbone blazer, tortoiseshell frames and navy silk scarf, to my gray tweed, oval frames and pink silk scarf. And right after I slipped a red Moleskine notebook into my bag he pulled out the same one and sketched.

Most every day because I enjoy cooking and stay pretty healthy. Less frequently, lately, because one of my roommates frequently orders delivery. Three of my four major food groups are Chinese, Japanese and Italian.

Yogi Peach Detox tea and VH1.

Which one? There are three. In the center is a wall of windows.

Since childhood I've passed by quirky city buildings and dreamed of living on the top floor. The best example of this is the original Pizza Uno in Chicago. I still think the top floor looks like the perfect little studio. Like the building above, it's probably used for storage. But maybe it's a painting or photography studio (I imagine something artsy given the golden curtains). This is New York, after all, and any space can, and will, be made habitable.

The Crystal Stilts record is conducive to daydreaming. Listening to it on the ride up to West 4th Street last night I was oblivious to the loud confrontation right in front of me -- dude got annoyed when the girl sitting next to him kept elbowing him while talking to her guy friend, who stood. Dude, sleeping off a 12-hour shift and chugging water from a Gatorade bottle, got in guy-friend's face until they left the train. He proceeded to gripe about it for another stop. This time I kept my mouth shut. A few hours later, lost in "Through the Floor," I got on the V instead of the F and didn't notice until it parked at 2nd Avenue and everyone got off. Then I got on an Uptown F by mistake and didn't notice until we hit Bryant Park. Once I oriented myself I put on something else.
